Ellene Wundrok and Helena Gullström
Milo Gallery is pleased to show the paintings of Ellene Wundrok and the sculptures of Helena Gullström. Using two very different mediums, both artists use a multiple layering process in their pieces, which conveys a sense of depth and complexity.
The subtle paintings by Ellene Wundrok capture the broken moments we often experience on the street. She incorporates fleeting thoughts, phrases and words from people she passes and they then permeate her paintings. The layering of her work symbolizes the tactics we use to both hide and reveal our feelings. She lives in New York, where she was born and raised.
Created from a medium comprised mainly of concrete, the large scale sculptures of Helena Gullström are strikingly soft and feminine. The physical layering of the concrete creates a sense of irony in each piece of work. Through the manipulation and distortion of the feminine form she challenges us to look beyond the outer layer. Born and raised in Sunne, Sweden, she now resides in Los Angeles.
